Baby Owen Cardwell

Ok i know many of you have been emailing me about the updates on baby Owen, and i have been so busy that i haven't had time to sit down and get all my information together!

Owen Cardwell was born Oct. 20th (i believe) When he was born they noticed that he wasn't breathing like he should so they took him back to do a few test, when they did this they then realized that he has gotten a virus while still inside the placenta. This attacked Owen's left side of his heart which caused it not to work properly. This is causing fluid to build up around his lungs and heart which is causing the Left lungs to not work right either. When this first Began it made his liver enlarge.

His liver has went back to the normal size and they have been able to remove the catheter from him. He is doing good and using the bathroom on his own, so that part has gotten better! They have done several echo's and they still show the same (fluid in lungs and heart and heart nt working exactly right left side) It has made a slight change though (which we will take!!!) His heart as went from 20% to 25% so that is great!! If his heart continues to improve then they will hold off on a heart transplant.....

Josh and i went to see Owen on Nov. 10th and it was so great to talk and see Daron (daddy) and Krissy (mommy)i believe they enjoyed having people around! But Owen was so sweet he looked so good as to what i expected, he had a vent down his throat (breathing tube) a line going in to his chest (to heart) and one in his neck and one in his arm. They also had a feeding tube down him. I sat with him and rubbed his little head full of dark curly THICK hair, he just looked at me and then at Krissy every time she spoke which told me how alert he was!

The next day i received a update and it said that he was doing better, Krissy and Daron got to give him a bath and then put him to bed. Today i got a update and they have removed the breathing tube!!! YAY she said so far he is doing good breathing on his own, they did another echo and it still shows the same, if we can get this virus to go away they think that it will make his heart start working right again and that will get rid of the fluid, so i ask you to please keep praying!! The prayer is working bc everyday little Owen gets better and better, one day at a time WE WILL TAKE IT!!!!!
